NiceHash, a digital asset cloud mining marketplace facilitating hash power transactions, suffered a catastrophic security breach in December 2017.
During a period of peak Bitcoin valuation, unauthorized actors compromised the platform's internal payment infrastructure. The threat actors exfiltrated in excess of 4,700 BTC comprised of pending miner fees and user account balances, consolidating the stolen assets into a centralized destination address.
